Keeping Away Cabin Fever

Where we live is cold. And the cold lasts a long, long time.

So, I'm working on a list. "Things to do with a toddler when it's winter in Alaska"

Here's what I've got so far:
Museum of the North
"Zoo" (a.k.a. Petco)
Library (kids room, Story Hour)
Barnes & Noble (train table, Story Time T/Th 11am)
Campus Shuttle Bus (free, runs in all weather)
Ice Alaska Kids Park (for the month of March anyway)

Yeah, it's a short list. Small town = short list. There are few other things I could pay to do, but I'm facing a lot more cold days and I don't want to start a habit that's going to cost me a fortune. I do need to get signed up for Parents As Teachers, that program gets you access to a gym where your toddler can run around and go nuts. Lots of fun book and reading incentives too. Plus, we could always walk at the indoor track! lol, it's a sad, simple life we're living this winter.

A picture from last winter:
Adelaide and I meeting an ice polar bear just off campus. I was SO GLAD that the weather was warm enough for her to see the ice carving without risking frostbite. In case you're wondering, the car was nice and warm and I did have a blanket over the kiddo. We just hopped out of the car, checked out the bear, and hopped back in. Her hands weren't even cold when we got back in the car. :)
