She'll never leave your bed!

To anyone everyone who told me that letting Adelaide sleep in our bed as an infant would mean she would sleep with us f-o-r-e-v-e-r:

She has slept in her own bed, all night, without qualms for a week now. So, thanks for your advice. Once again, the wisdom of "they" has failed. Yes, we had to work with her a bit. When we first wanted her to sleep in her own bed we'd put her to sleep there and when she woke up hours later she'd come to bed with us. As she slept longer (and didn't need to nurse as often) she stayed in her bed longer. She no longer needs to be up at night. So she no longer sleeps with us.

Yes, there were hard nights, and hard times with little sleep. Those rough spots are going to happen no matter what path you take with your kids' sleep. They just are. It's a part of being a parent. If you want convenience, swing by a 7-11. Parenting is not convenient.

In fact, Ephesians would have us believe it's an act of downright selflessness. Comforting a small child (infant) even when you're sleepy is a selfless act.

So I guess the next one will be sleeping with us for a while too. Why mess with what works?
